I was on my way to a concert at the Mannheim main station. (Eliana Cargnelutti, the photos will follow). As so often, I was somewhat earlier in the scene. The time to use to continue the project is obvious.
Here at the Wasserturm in Mannheim I was looking for whom I could speak. And really, I noticed two young ladies who strolled through the small park without haste and looked at the spring planting. A good opportunity to speak to both of them.
So I did. As always, I figured out my project and showed some photos on my smartphone. I could convince and both young ladies agreed to help me with my project. Both of them I asked to go a few steps out of the bouncing sun into the shadow of the tower. Our little photoshooting started and was very relaxed. Just like our conversation.
So here in Mannheim I met Isabell and Jennifer. They are siblings and come from Mutterstadt, a smaller town near Mannheim.
Isabell is 22 years young. She studies theater science and art history in Mainz. What is the focus of your future career? Isabell does not want to decide yet, she is just at the beginning of her studies. Which is your favorite stage play, I asked Isabell. Very impressed she was recently by a play called "I, Pinocchio - a journey to the heart of the machine". (www.staatstheater-mainz.com/web/veranstaltungen/schauspie...)
It is a mixture of drama and marionettes theater. The stage play was performed in Mainz and is concerning the question of where the boundaries between man and machine are blurred; whether machines can learn and have emotions; how the relationship between man and machine is shaped.
The theater has always fascinated Isabell, already as a pupil she took part in the theater group of her school.
I asked Jennifer how she would describe Isabell. Isabell is quiet at home; "Outside" Isabell herself is somewhat distant, but if she is addressed, she is very open. She gets in touch quickly and is a funny person.
Did Isabell have a life motto? "Yes, I'm trying to live the way I think it's right and what is important to me and makes me happy, I do not judge what others expect from me."
It is always difficult to run these small intervies with two people at the same time and not to give any of the conversation partners the feeling that he is neglected. I hope Isabell has felt comfortable.
I would like to thank Isabell and Jennifer for this spontaneous encounter. It was a great pleasure for me to talk with you.

Ich war auf dem Weg zu einem Konzert im Mannheimer Hauptbahnhof. (Eliana Cargnelutti, die Fotos folgen noch). Wie so oft, war ich etwas früher am Ort des Geschehens. Die Zeit zu nutzen, um das Projekt fortzusetzen, liegt auf der Hand.
Hier am Wasserturm in Mannheim hielt ich Ausschau, wen ich ansprechen konnte. Und wirklich, ich bemerkte zwei junge Damen, die ohne Eile durch den kleinen Parkanlage schlenderten und sich die Frühjahrsbepflanzung anschauten. Eine gute Gelegenheit, die beiden anzusprechen.
Wie immer stellte ich mich vor, erklärte mein Projekt und zeigte ein paar Fotos auf meinem Smartphone. Das überzeugte und beide jungen Damen erklärten sich bereit, mir mit meinem Projekt zu helfen. Beide bat ich, mit mir ein paar Schritte aus der prallen Sonne in den Schatten vor den Wasserturm zu gehen. Unser kleines Fotoshooting begann und war sehr locker und entspannt. Genau wie unser Gespräch im Anschluss.
Hier in Mannheim traf ich also Isabell und Jennifer. Sie sind Geschwister und kommen aus Mutterstadt, einem kleineren Ort in der Nähe von Mannheim.
Isabell ist 22 Jahre jung. Sie studiert in Mainz Theaterwissenschaften und Kunstgeschichte. Welchen Schwerpunkt Ihr Beruf später haben wird, da möchte Isabell sich noch festlegen. Welches ist denn dein Lieblingstheaterstück, fragte ich Isabell. Sehr beindruckt hat sie erst kürzlich das Stück „Ich, Pinocchio - eine Reise ins Herz der Maschine“. Es ist eine Mischung aus Schauspiel und Marionettentheater. Aufgeführt wurde das Stück in Mainz. Es beschäftigt er sich mit der Frage, wo die Grenzen zwischen Mensch- und Maschinesein verschwimmen; ob Maschinen lernen und Emotionen haben können; wie sich das Verhältnis zwischen Mensch und Maschine gestaltet.
Das Theater hat Isabell schon immer fasziniert, schon als Schülerin hat sie sich an der Theater AG ihrer Schule beteiligt.
Ich fragte Jennifer, wie sie Isabell beschreiben würde. Zuhause ist Isabell ruhig; „draußen“ ist Isabell selber etwas distanziert, wird sie aber angesprochen, ist sie sehr offen. Sie bekommt schnell Kontakt und ist ein lustiger Mensch.
Hat Isabell ein Lebensmotto? „Ja ich versuche so zu leben, wie ich es für richtig halte und was für mich wichtig ist und Freude bereitet, ich richte mich nicht danach, was ander von mir erwarten“.
Es ist immer schwierig diese kleine Interviews mit zwei Personen gleichzeitig zu führen und keinem der Gesprächspartner das Gefühl zu geben, er werde vernachlässigt. Ich hoffe, Isabell hatte nicht das Gefühl.
Ich bedanke mich herzlich bei Isabell und Jennifer für diese spontane Aktion. Es war mir eine große Freude, mich mit euch unterhalten zu haben.
Isabell, ich wünsche dir viel Erfolg in deinem Studium und hoffe, irgendwann einmal deinen Namen in Zusammenhang mit einer großen Theaterpremiere oder Museumseröffnung zu lesen. Vielleicht schreibst du mir ja dann mal eine E-Mail.
