Dr Tania Mathias at last night’s annual meeting of the Teddington Society in west London.
Dr Mathias is MP for Twickenham, my local constituency – but for how much longer? She represents the Conservatives with a majority of just 2,017 (a strangely appropriate figure, some might say).
But her opponent in the forthcoming general election is the formidable Sir Vince Cable who held Twickenham for the Liberal Democrats between 1997 and 2015 and who has a strong local following. He’s just announced he’s standing again… and he wants Twickenham back. It’ll be an interesting two-horse contest.
