An estimated 30,000 children live on the streets on Manila, such as these who live in a slum colony situated on the edge of a huge city landfill. Here they're often working recycling sorting jobs in unthinkable, hazardous conditions as young as age 5. Our Manila Children's Hope Center offers families an alternative to child labor, providing children with fresh meals and after school care tutoring, giving them a better chance to succeed in school, and thus a better chance to break out of the cycle of extreme poverty. I messed with this portrait that I always liked - I know this sounds weird, but it reminds me of that famous Obama poster just a little - like there could be a story to this picture.
