difficult parenting decisions
childhood growing pains
the moments of bickering -
they all seem urban legend,
part of some parallel universe
and we don’t even live there
we giggle under a blanket fort
i tickle you until you’re breathless
eventually you whisper
evaporated sugar into my ear

with magic sparkling in your eyes
