Emily is an exchange student from Germany. She is studying television in Bournemouth, UK. Prior to this she had been in the Netherlands for a couple years, studying media. Although she has worked as a producer; Emily told me that she has yet to decide on where her career will be. Producing involves lots of organising. She would like to be able to use her creative side.
A reflector would have been handy to help bring the light back to the shaded part of Emily's face. Unfortunately I was travelling light and had not brought one with me. No way was I going to ask Emily to remove her lovely hat – it was part of the reason that I stopped her in the first place.
When I got home, I discovered that the shadow was not as strong as I had imagined. Perhaps this was because I positioned myself camera a little higher and Emily tilted her head up. I did lighten the shadow a little in post processing.
Thank you Emily for taking part in my project. It was good to meet you today. Best wishes for your time in the UK and for however your career takes you.
